Five Ways to Wellbeing Awareness Training

The Five Ways to Wellbeing are simple evidence based lifestyle interventions that can promote and improve our mental health and emotional wellbeing. The Five Ways to Wellbeing is at the heart of Walsall's mental health and wellbeing promotion strategy for 2013 to 2016.

This 1.5 hour session will provide participants with the knowledge and materials required to cascade information on the Five Ways to Wellbeing and how to use nationally and locally produced wellbeing resources

Course Aims: To enable participants to plan and deliver a short development session on the Five Ways to Wellbeing - all participants will be given a copy of the slides and lesson plan

Objectives - by the end of the session participants will be able to:

  1. Define what is meant by wellbeing
  2. Describe each of the Five Ways to Wellbeing and associated activities
  3. Explain how the Five Ways to Wellbeing were developed and the evidence base
  4. Give examples of how the Five Ways to Wellbeing could be utilised by different ages and client groups
  5. Demonstrate the use of a wellbeing resource

Course Content:

  • What is wellbeing? What makes us happy?
  • The Foresight Report and the development of the Five Ways to Wellbeing
  • The Five Ways to Wellbeing and wellbeing activities
  • Evaluation of our own wellbeing
  • An exploration of how to make use of available wellbeing resources: e.g. Warwick Edinburgh Wellbeing Scale and locally developed resources
